Xherdan Shaqiri’s £12million move to Stoke

Stoke City have reportedly agreed a £12million deal for Inter Milan’s attacking midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, according to news coming out of Italy.
The key aspect to the deal now is whether Shaqiri agrees to the deal himself, having only spent six months at current club Inter.
The former Bayern Munich playmaker has previously been subject to strong interest from Liverpool before deciding on a move to Roberto Mancini’s Inter side.
Having only played in Italy for a short period, it comes as a surprise that he is on the verge of a move to Mark Hughes’ Stoke City. His failure to make a significant impact in his time there hints at the idea that he has always had a move to England in the back of his mind, having known of the long term interest various Premier League clubs have shown in him.
The ability to secure Shaqiri’s services at the Britannia Stadium next season will act as a huge step forward for Stoke City. He would depict the level of the club’s ambition while enhancing their chances of challenging for a place in the Europa League.
The Potters can be excited by the prospect of his arrival with the knowledge that he has performed at the very highest level. Shaqiri promises to bring a touch of class to Stoke and quality in the final third. Ultimately, he has the technical capabilities in the form of his trickery and creativity to make himself the main man in Mark Hughes’ plans.
Fans of Stoke City can take great optimism from his 17 goals in 46 International appearances for Switzerland.
The signing of Xherdan Shaqiri at Stoke promises to make the upcoming Premier League season more competitive than ever before as more clubs look to challenge the league’s top teams.
